Position Summary:

FirstLine Schools is currently seeking a talented, passionate, full time K-12th ELL teacher to provide academic and learning support to students. The ELL Teacher will work to ensure the academic success of the students by developing and implementing appropriate lesson plans and instructional techniques that are aligned to the school's curriculum and learning and behavior goals through a combination of direct instruction (push in and pull out) and consultation with classroom teachers. Candidates must be certified to teach ELL or be eligible for Louisiana certification. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in an urban, open admissions setting.

Position Responsibilities:

Teaching and Lesson Planning

  • Plan for and provide pull-out and push-in services as appropriate for students

  • Consult with classroom teachers on instructional strategies

  • Design materials for student use

  • Write and monitor LEP accommodation plans

  • Review and maintain student records to comply with all legal and school reporting requirements

  • Support classroom teachers and support teachers in developing and planning curriculum and accommodations and modifications for students

  • Assess students and gather data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and ensure students perform at high levels

  • Deliver professional development to school staff throughout the school year

Education & Experience:

  • Problem solving skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience

  • Demonstrated success working with students in an urban, open admissions school

  • A strong background in and command of language acquisition process

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Louisiana ESL certification or eligibility (REQUIREMENT)

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear.

ELL TEACHER reports to: Director of Student Support Services (if serving multiple schools) or School Leader if serving at one school

Bricolages Special Education teachers develop and implement an effective educational program for students with exceptionalities. Special Education teachers will also inspire their students to use their tools to cope with their exceptionality in order to adapt and be productive in school and in their community. Bricolage Academy is a school with a big goal: we aim to be the highest performing non-selective school in New Orleans. There are many people who contribute to making Bricolage special - parents, administration, students and community members - but teachers are at the center of it all. Bricolage teachers must demonstrate a deep commitment to our mission of advancing educational equity by creating innovators who change the world. Specifically, Special Education Teachers at Bricolage are responsible for: * Developing and coordinating the academic, behavioral, and social programing through IEP management of students with autism * Collecting and analyzing detailed and accurate student data through progress monitoring * Coordinating and collaborating student schedules with general education teachers and related service providers * Researching best practices and implementation of strategies that work effectively for children with exceptionalities. * Leading and participating in staff development and trainings that focus on working with students with exceptionalities. * Assisting general education teachers and other school support staff with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion * Scheduling IEP meetings and facilitate communication with families and staff of students with exceptionalities QUALIFICATIONS Required: * Strong belief in Bricolage Academy's mission, vision and core values * Strong belief in and commitment to diverse, equitable and inclusive educational access and equitable outcomes * Strong belief in and commitment to the city of New Orleans * High degree of patience, empathy, and love for children * Bachelors Degree * Louisiana Teaching Certificate in Special Education, or working towards it * Demonstrated success of inclusive practices of students with exceptional needs * At least 3 years of teaching experience of students with exceptionalities Preferred: * Autism Certification or extensive formal education in autism * Familiarity with SER (Louisianas Special Education Reporting System) * Familiarity with FBA/BIPs * CPI Certification People of color strongly encouraged to apply.
