Job Summary: Seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to provide outstanding customer service and operations support at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Hill District. This customer service-focused role will ensure high quality user experiences and perform a variety of routine clerical tasks throughout the Library, in adherence to the CLP Philosophy of Service.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Engaging with Library users to ensure their needs are supported and addressed through relevant services;
Greeting customers and directing them to the appropriate staff members and resources to meet their information needs;
Overseeing the opening and closing process of the Library as needed; resolving customer and security issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of the Library;
Performing circulation duties such as checking materials in and out, register customers for library cards, and providing orientation to Library use;
Calculating and collecting fines and fees; handling monetary transactions, including cash payments and credit transactions;
Assisting customers by locating and retrieving materials, demonstrating, and providing instruction in the use of Library equipment;
Providing basic reference and readers' advisory service to all age levels in person and over the phone;
Preparing and submitting required reports as needed;
Resolving customer complaints with the goal of customer satisfaction;
Moving materials within the Library, including sorting and shelving books;
Working in a busy, urban library and meeting the needs of a diverse range of customers, including children and the elderly;
Working with the Customer Service and Account Services Supervisor to ensure CLP Service Standards are modeled daily.
