Description:Work in a team environment, in conjunction with a supplier team, to design, develop and verify embedded Transmission Module or Engine Controller or Engine module electronics. This position will include interaction with multiple Engineering disciplines, vehicle teams and suppliers.

  • Develop module specifications, FMEAs, test specifications and source packages.

  • Design and/or verify circuit designs.

  • Lead / participate in issue resolution activities during development, vehicle launch, and/or warranty periods.

  • Support effort to incorporate module(s) into Chrysler vehicle electrical systems.

  • Work with supplier on new module package designs to conform to Chrysler vehicle under hood and interior environments.

  • Lead / participate in teams to develop the required vehicle function control requirements that are incorporated into the controllers.

  • Prototype possible cost saving or development issue solutions in hardware and/or software in conjunction with supplier.

  • Lead / participate in technical coordination meetings and trips to supplier for component technical reviews.

  • Support activities with corporate supplier quality and purchasing areas.

  • Support corporate quality in the areas of plant and field issue resolution.

  • Requirements:


  • B.S.E.E. or related degree.

  • 1-5 years Automotive electronics Experience

  • Co-op or Summer Internship Experience

  • Must be lawfully authorized to work in the US permanently without restrictions.

  • Self-starter

  • Possess outstanding interpersonal and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Requirements:

  • 5-10 years with Electronic Module or Automotive Experience

  • Masters Degree

  • Component releasing experience desirable.

  • Experience with electronic module design, specifically embedded electronics desirable

  • Powertrain subsystem or vehicle systems experience a plus

  • Thermal management, electronic packaging background for power electronics desirable

  • Familiarity with microcontroller design desirable.

  • Familiarity / experience in specifying or designing control system algorithms for inclusion in purchased electronic controllers.

  • Familiarity / experience with embedded software design desirable.

Driving and Travel Requirements:

Will be required to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%

Will be required to drive a company car. Valid drivers license is required as well as a clean driving record

VIEW JOBS 11/9/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-07T00:00 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is currently seeking all levels of Supplier Operations/Quality Engineers with expertise in electrical and electronics to work in at our US Headquarters and Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Senior Supplier Quality/Operations Engineer is responsible for directing and supervising activities related to the planning and managing all activities related to the successful industrialization and full production launch of purchased electrical/electronic and vehicle electrification/advanced propulsion components from inception to execution. The responsibilities include management of all critical disciplines within FCA and our supplier partner network to ensure that all launch and production deliverables are met in a collaborative environment. Essential responsibilities include but not limited to: * Lead evaluation of new suppliers and manufacturing technologies * Manage new supplier integration to FCA system and requirements * Facilitate supplier process production/industrialization implementation * Review and approve supplier partner process controls and quality gates to ensure world-class quality * Utilize structured problem solving approach (Reactive Black Belt, Six Sigma and other), World Class Manufacturing and Lean Production techniques to address part quality and capacity concerns * Provide leadership and guidance to address any launch related issues at various FCA facilities * Proactively manage sub-tier readiness for various components including: semi-conductors, printed circuit board, printed circuit board assemblies, sensors and various mechanical devices Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (accreditation will be reviewed); Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Biomedical/Biomechanical/Bioengineering, Materials, Aerospace/Aeronautical, Mechatronics and other related degrees will also be considered based on practical experience * On-the-job experience in engineering, manufacturing, quality or other interdisciplinary fields related to the production of electrical, electronics, electrochemical and electromechanical devices * Ability to travel globally an up to 40% * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite software * Experience with new emerging automotive technologies such as: * Autonomous vehicle systems and components * Power electronics for hybrid and electric vehicle systems * High voltage battery systems (Li-ion) and components * Electric drive and other types of motors * Hybrid and electric vehicle charging systems Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in Engineering or related field * Quality Certification * Program management certification * Shainin/Six Sigma Black Belt * Experience with printed circuit board and board assembly, electrical systems, and electrical component assembly, ESD best practices * Experience with electronics interconnections including harnesses, cables and connectors * Experience with functional and end of line tests and testers * Experience with Mini-Tab, Stat Graphics and other statistical problem solving tools * Strong project management abilities * Experience and ability to mentor and guide outside organization * Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills * Ability to interact with all levels of FCA and supplier partner management Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Auburn Hills MI
