Essential Duties of Position: * This is a leadership role which directs the work of several team members including managers and/or senior managers within a specialized area; has profit and loss responsibility for the department and is accountable; works with directors, senior directors and/or vice presidents of given department in developing departmental short and long-range objectives, plans, budget and policies. Providence is calling a Grants Officer (Grants Administration, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Foundation in Anchorage, Alaska. The Providence Alaska Region Grants Office was established for the purpose of centralizing all grant requests and funds operated by Providence Health & Services-Alaska (PH&SA). Under the supervision of the Foundation President, the Grants Officer develops and manages PH&SA government and private grants. The Grants Officer will be responsible for researching funding opportunities, ensuring compliance with the grants policy, proposal development, post-award compliance administration including agreement compliance and budget monitoring of all Providence Region Grants. In this position you will: * Investigate potential grant opportunities; evaluate the eligibility of projects, coordinate with various staff and prepare quality grant applications and/or subsequent funding contracts; and monitor progress. * Serve as the liaison between the organization and funders to ensure contractual obligations for the projects are met and to process actions such as specialized equipment purchased, deliverables, modifications and closeouts. Speak authoritatively on grants administration matters as a representative of PH&SA. * Conduct the pre-approval process for projects and analyzes Requests for Proposals. How would you like to become a part of a team providing compassionate care to Veterans? The Alaska VA Healthcare System (AVAHS) is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity level 3 facility serving Veterans throughout Alaska. The parent facility is located in Anchorage, Alaska and is adjacent to the 673d Medical Group, Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson which is a VA/DoD Joint Venture Hospital. We manage four VA Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), located in Fairbanks (358 miles north of Anchorage), Kenai (158 miles south of Anchorage), Wasilla (41 miles north of Anchorage) and Juneau (569 air miles from Anchorage). We manage a VA Outreach clinic located in Homer and served by staff from the Kenai VA CBOC We also manage a 50 bed Domiciliary for homeless veteran's located in downtown Anchorage. Anchorage is a mid-sized city of approximately 292,000, with all of the modern amenities expected, including shopping, dining, cultural opportunities, entertainment, and public transportation. Leave the traffic jams and commuter stress behind and enjoy the scenic mountains or Cook Inlet views as you travel around the area. Within 15-20 minutes you can be in the Alaska wilderness of the Chugach National and State Forests, with little evidence of civilization. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating, skiing, climbing, golf, tennis, recreational leagues and wildlife photography are all pursuits available in or near Anchorage. The University of Alaska Anchorage provides educational opportunities for continued personal education and growth. Alaska has no state income tax and Anchorage has no sales tax. Positions in Alaska receive a tax free Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. The COLA for Anchorage is currently 3.74% and is subject to change in the future. Learn more about this agency Responsibilities The Physician in the Primary Care Service at The Alaska VA Healthcare System (AVAHS) & VARIOUS other Community Out Based Clinic Sites is an independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of a patient's primary care needs or subspecialty evaluation and treatment and will maintain proficiency with the latest medical treatments and procedures via continuing medical education (CME). * Good organizational skills which enable completion of work. * Assume leadership in a patient centered program. * Establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. * Practices, promotes and implements current safety policies and procedures. * assesses safety needs of patients and implements opportunities to improve environmental and operational safety.Identifies Quality Improvement issues and participates in QI monitoring and in the evaluation of clinical practices. * Provides age-specific care for young adults (age 20-40 years), middle adult (age 40-65), older adult (age 65-74) and geriatric patients (over 75). Work Schedule: No more than 5 days per week, not to exceed 40 hours per week. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. * Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. * Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. * Proficiency in spoken and written English. * Physical requirements outlined below. Preferred Experience: PREFER BOARD CERTIFIED IN FAMILY PRACTICE OR INTERNAL MEDICINE Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.
