Summary The Barista position operates various types of specialty beverage or coffee outlet facilities or services, in addition to doing a variety of cleaning, maintenance, food preparation, stocking, cash handling and serving duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Assists customers as with general information, inquires, order selection and recommendations, etc. * Brews a wide variety of specialty coffees, tea, chocolate, using coffee urns or makers, teapots, drink mixers, etc. * Answers customer's questions concerning available products. * Properly, safely, and efficiently prepares various food products following and observing standard food handling procedures. * Obtains products requested by customers. * May prepare and issue iced beverages, such as fountain or bottled drinks, etc. May make sandwiches, tea, etc. * Serves, wraps, or bags customer products. * Operates cash register to record price, compile printed list, and display costs. * Totals price, accepts payment, and makes change on products to be purchased by customer. * May keep record of sales, prepare inventory of stock, or order merchandise. * Removes and records amount of cash in register at end of shift. * Follows corporate and/or unit cash handling policies and procedures. * Maintains a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines. * May stock beverage machine(s) and keeps them clean and routinely maintained. * Checks area periodically to make sure all is continually stocked and everything is full/working. * Observes any problems with the quality or quantity of food being served and takes appropriate steps to resolve issues. * Prepares special lists and their prices. * Continually wipes and cleans dining room and other associated areas. * Cleans shelves, counters, or tables. * Cleans and polishes utensils and equipment used in food and beverage preparation. * Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner. * Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines, etc. * Assists with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects. * Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. Minimum Requirements * Must have a High school diploma or GED equivalent. * Must have Municipality of Anchorage Food Handlers Card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire. * Must have some knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment. * Must have at least some combination of formal documented training, education or experience which demonstrates an interest in or a suitability for this type of work. * Must pass a fingerprinting background investigation that complies with The Crime Control Act, Child Care Worker Act and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act. * Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. * Proof of immunization for measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Varicella (chicken pox), TB, and any other immunizations and screenings designated in the current ANTHC Employee Health Program for Infection Control in Hospital Personnel. * Annual flu vaccination documentation to Contractor. * Contractor may be required to maintain all employee health records on site. Essential Functions * Serves as a champion for FXG's Safety Above All Culture and supports all related initiatives * Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to: hiring, terminations, coaching, training, recognition and rewards, performance evaluation and management, discipline, addressing employee concerns and staff productivity * Plans, organizes, staffs, directs and controls specific day-to-day operations within the station or hub * Responsible for assigning and managing employees to ensure the safe and efficient sortation of packages through the facility, minimizing operational cost and maximizing operational quality, including the movement, tracking and administration of trailers (in conjunction with the linehaul department as applicable) * Analyzes operational performance through direct observation, interpretation of reports and collaboration with others.
