DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Responsible for administering and interpreting standardized psychological tests. 2.Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, consulting with all mental health staff on the care of the inmate patient and collaborates on treatment planning. 3.Conducts individual and group therapy as clinically appropriate and agreed upon by the treatment team. 4.Devises and assists others in devising behavior modification plans for inmate patients who are resistant to treatment. 5.Provides the treatment team with psychosocial interventions for the treatment of mental illness as stand alone treatments or in conjunction with pharmacotherapy. 6.Conducts in-house audits of various aspects of the mental health program in support of the site administrator. 7.Interviews and evaluates qualifications of prospective candidates for employment and makes recommendation to the Site Administrator regarding suitability. 8.Organizes and maintains resource materials for the use of mental health staff in conjunction with the Assistant Program Director. 9.Conducts ADOC required trainings as well as in-service trainings for staff as assigned. 10.Maintains a calendar of mental health workshop opportunities and assists staff in meeting their training needs/requirements. 11.Participates in the facility's CQI committee. 12.Interprets ADOC psychological testing results and provides feedback to staff of relevant findings. 13.Works collaboratively with the ADOC staff through participation on the Segregation Review Board. 14.Participates as needed as a part of the Sanity Commission for inmate commitments. 15.Participates as needed as a part of the Involuntary Review Committee when not a part of the inmate's treatment, i.e. different facility. 16.Facilitates meetings with staff to promote and accomplish treatment and professional program objectives such as teambuilding and behavior management plans. 17.Monitor, assess and coach staff on clinical psychological related procedures, recommending training or education as needed. 18.Completes rounds on the mental health units and provides feedback to staff. 19.Prepare and submit case reports and summaries to appropriate parties accurately and in a timely manner. This position reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, is a member of the Provost's Council of Academic Deans and Directors and will serve as the chief academic officer for the Murphy Graduate School, providing vision, leadership and advocacy for the for the school, its programs and graduate faculty and in the various colleges that offer graduate degrees. Duties and Responsibilities: The dean of the graduate school has a primary leadership role at Alabama State University and she/he is tasked with overseeing that graduate education functions effectively and with quality; supervises the college's staff and works closely with the academic deans and associate deans for graduate programs of the colleges, together with the faculty, an in cooperation with the Graduate Council on academic policies and procedures; holds responsibility for the Graduate Catalog, approving the faculty committees for all candidates for doctoral degrees, scheduling final oral doctoral exams, approving masters's thesis and doctoral dissertations, fon for validating all candidates for master's and doctoral graduations; shares responsibility for the general welfare of graduate students and, in particular, for the training, mentoring, and support of graduate teaching and research assistants. OR I have one year of specialized experience at the GS-05. Examples of specialized experience such as professional knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts and practices of child development. GS-08: I have two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR I have one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 which includes knowledge in developing curricula which covers physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of school age children. GS-09: I have two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. This is an advanced psychological services position. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES A.Interviews inmates to obtain information concerning medical history, mental health history, or other pertinent information. B.Observes inmates to detect indications of abnormal behavior. C.Reviews results of tests, treatment plans and treatment cases with the Psychiatrist/Psychologist to evaluate client needs and implement treatment. D.Consult with and offer feedback to ADOC staff in classification, records, administration, and security in conveying inmate information related to level of functioning and program eligibility. E.Responds to legitimate requests with the approval of the inmate for information, such as from Vocational Rehabilitation Services, Half-way Houses, and Social Security Administration as well as transfer requests, progress reviews, and inquiries by institutional staff, while following appropriate guidelines regarding case management and ensuring the proper assignment of inmates to programs. F.May administer/interpret standardized tests within their scope of practice, such as the MMPI-2, WAIS-III, WRAT-4, and BETA, by following the standardized test manuals to accurately assess the inmate's level of mental and intellectual functioning, the probability of future acting-out and other deviant/maladaptive behavior by providing data for evaluations and accurate information relevant to other types of inmate placement, intervention, and treatment, such as Consult to the Disciplinary Process, Treatment Plans, and institutional assignment. G.Plans and administers therapeutic treatment such as counseling, behavior modification and psychosocial education to assist inmates in managing their mental disorders and other interpersonal or environmental problems. H.Discuss progress toward treatment goals with inmate and ensures that the treatment plan is completed in a timely manner, adhered to as the barometer for treatment and is reflected in the progress notes. I.Consults with Psychologist and Psychiatrist concerning treatment plan and amends plan as described. J.Conducts peer reviews and participates in program audits and continuous quality improvement activities as directed by the Site Health Services Administrator. K.Refers inmates to supportive services to supplement treatment and counseling, such as religious services, classification and substance abuse services. L.Prepares inmates for release via treatment, schedules follow-up appointments for the inmate with their local county mental health center, ensures that appropriate staff counsels inmate on medication issues as relevant, assist the inmate when needed to obtain shelter and/or social services. OTHER DUTIES: * As Required * Conforms to Wexford Health Sources, Inc. and correctional regulations, as appropriate, to include, but not be limited to: * Dress code * Schedule/time sheet * Safety and security regulations * Procedure for sick leave/vacation time/education seminars * Maintain the confidentiality of inmate records * Approaches change in a positive manner * Accepts constructive criticism/advice and learns from it * Maintain composure in stressful situations The duties and responsibilities outlined herein are for payroll purposes only; employees may be assigned other duties as required. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Standard medical setting within a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with offenders/patients, correctional staff, and health care personnel. Temperature extremes may be encountered while moving throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air conditioning. Minimum Requirements TRAVEL: Minimal travel required. LICENSING: Licensed in the State of Alabama by the Board of Examiners in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work Examiners or Behavior Analyst Certification Board CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification. EDUCATION: Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Behavioral Analysis, or Counseling from an APA accredited school. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: * Two years experience in a mental health/correctional setting preferred. * Have ability to assess treatment goals and write goal-directed, individualized treatment plans; have ability to monitor and document individual behavior patters and modify treatment plans; and be familiar with diagnostic nomenclature outlined in the most recent Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.
