Provide mentorship to the current Turf SBU Team member groups. Represent / protect Shaw Turf’s interest with groups like the NFL, FIFA, FIH, ASTM, STC and others. Responsibilities: • Initiate, plan, coordinate, and expedite Turf / Outdoor surfaces research projects from concept to completion. • Maintain technical knowledge of all Outdoor surfaces materials and manufacturing processes designed for Turf usage. • Provide Industry Expertise for Shaw where needed with external groups like the NFL, FIFA, ASTM and others in order to protect Shaw’s best interest. • Provide technical testing and publications for the Marketing / Sales groups to support Shaw’s growth into the outdoor markets. • Work with key Shaw Distributors / Architects and their staff to train and educate all on the attributes of Shaw products in order to provide accelerated understanding on our product lines. • Initiate development work with internal and external suppliers as needed. • Actively serve as a mentor to our Technical Marketing Department / Sales Team in all aspects of Outdoor Products. • Conduct studies by researching systematically, methodically, and scientifically; keep records of all research conducted. • Advise Shaw legal department regarding product features, sports science and manufacturing processes, as well as, technical assistance with strategic agreements. • Audit all patents issued weekly for Turf surfaces products and communicate items of interest to Director, Turf Research & Development. • Develop and maintain working relationships with appropriate Universities and utilize their lab facilities when advantageous to Shaw, as well as other technical resources to positively position Shaw in the Outdoor Turf surface market. • Maintain technical knowledge of outdoor carpet, yarn, fiber, as well as all outdoor carpet, yarn and fiber processes as utilized by Shaw Industries. • Contribute technically to the development and commercialization of new Turf surfaces for the Shaw Turf division including sub base and pad. • Work with outside Testing Labs / Universities to develop meaningful testing for demonstrating the positive Ergonomic aspects of our Turf Sports Systems • Direct the daily activities of the Outdoor Product Performance Coordinator • Direct internal sports surface development personnel on turf, pad and infill projects and initiatives. • Direct employees/teams from other areas within and outside of R&D to complete projects and initiatives. • Direct the drafting of legal agreements between Shaw and outside vendors, new patent applications, and needed trademarks for marketing purposes. • Attend technical Outdoor Surface conferences/markets of various outdoor products and raw materials used to manufacture such. • Assist sales and marketing groups to develop marketing plans and advertising for new feature launches and maintenance for life of feature. • Assist or lead R & D facility tours to promote Shaw Outdoor Products to customers, employees and vendors. • Serve as Shaw Turf technical liaison with groups such as, NFL, FIFA, ASTM, FIH and others to maintain the positive status of Shaw Outdoor products. • Work with architects and specifiers to prepare job specifications incorporating Shaw outdoor and Turf products. • Analyze turf samples and make field visits to support Shaw Turf’s operations, QC, and Shaw manufacturing groups.
