POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Planner Mechanical is responsible for the development of maintenance work plans and prepares them for scheduling and work execution by the mechanical craft at the Decatur manufacturing site. This includes regular maintenance jobs, preventive and predictive jobs, and shutdown jobs. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Plans the mechanical and soft skills maintenance work (corrective, preventive and predictive) for the operating site * Provides effective job plans to accomplish work completion in an efficient and effective manner, including material & tool requirements labor estimates, and work instructions * Plans mechanical maintenance work with special attention paid to all regulatory requirements that may apply. This includes, but is not limited to, OSHA rules, EPA regulations, and state and local environmental regulations, ISO 9001, etc. * Provides effective job plans to accomplish work completion in an efficient and effective manner, including material & tool requirements labor estimates, and work instructions * Identifies the need for outside Contractors and secure proposal to complete the scope of work * Reviews submitted work orders for completeness and accuracy communicating with Operations & Maintenance Coordinators as needed * Reviews all completed work orders for completeness and accuracy, updating equipment history data and job plan feedback in the CMMS system as required * Transitions capital improvement projects from engineering department to the operations and maintenance departments. This includes updating of information in the CMMS database to reflect the improvement, addition, or deletion of equipment and their associated spare parts and maintenance procedures & job plans * Develops and insures the accuracy of BOM (Bill of Materials) making edits and additions as needed * Maintains the PM system for area of responsibility, editing jobs, estimated hours, frequency, adding new PM's as needed * Assists Material Coordinator with part discrepancies, description cleanup, etc. * Identifies part discrepancies, additional work needed, work task edits, reoccurring problems in area of responsibility through review of complete work orders in order to build standard job packages EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: * Minimum of seven (7) years as a mechanical craftsman OR * Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a craftsperson and AS degree in a technical area or completion of apprenticeship program. * Minimum of two (2) years' experience with SAP CMMS preferred. Attributes/Skills Required/Sought: * SAP experience and working knowledge of CMMS * Proficiency with Microsoft software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, etc.) * Strong command of written and verbal communications. * Leadership, organizational, time management and facilitation skills * Materials and labor estimating * Ability to work autonomously in the field with little supervision * Ability to read, create, and markup mechanical drawings Key Success Factors: (Specific expectations during next 6 - 18 months) * Demonstrate knowledge of safe work practices to include Ascend Safety policies and procedures, OSHA and environmental requirements. * Demonstrate knowledge of the workflow process and an understanding of the planner role within the workflow. * Able to initiate and process PM work orders. * Able to initiate and process corrective work from PM and PdM inspections. * Demonstrate understanding of criticality tool and its use in planning and scheduling. * Demonstrate ability to accurately plan jobs including materials and labor estimates. * Demonstrate understanding of procurement policies and procedures and the ability secure materials and contract labor as needed. * Demonstrate proficiency with SAP CMMS and the ability to meet responsibilities, tasks and SAP transactions per procedure MGN-WPWPRL003-P. * Demonstrate proficiency with Windows software (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.). * Ability to work with others in a teamwork environment. * Demonstrate communication skills to teach and mentor others on proper workflow procedures. * Ability to manage time and stay organized. General Position Summary Responsible for performing field inspections of residential and commercial structures plumbing, gas, electrical and mechanical installations and approving official documents permitting building construction, remodeling, renovation, demolition, and occupancy. Examples of Responsibilities * Approves new structures for occupancy subject to approved inspections based on minimum adopted code requirements. * Performs field inspections of all permitted structures to include plumbing, gas, electrical and mechanical installations. * Assists other building inspectors with difficult building problems or issues. * Explains building code requirements to contractors and the public. * Inputs inspection results into an automated inspection and permitting software program using a desktop, laptop, notebook or tablet computer and completes all required Inspection paperwork. * Places stop work orders on jobs where no permit has been obtained. Job Conditions: * Position splits time approximately 20% in office and 80% in field. * May require flexibility to work additional hours when needed to complete projects and assignments. * May involve callout work in case of storms or other civil emergencies. * Field work often done in rain and other inclement weather. * Field work often done at job sites with dangerous conditions such as incomplete structures, paint and other chemicals on-site, electric tools in use, noise, etc. * Must maintain a strong driving record for city insurance purpose and record may be periodically checked by the City. * Strong background record required, due to frequent interaction with public. Minimal Qualifications Five years experience as certified building inspector; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience and ability to acquire at least one certification through examination by a nationally recognized and accreditation agency or organization during the first year of employment; OR A.S. Degree in a construction-related discipline (e.g., Electrician, HVAC Repair, etc.) with 3 years of related experience, at least one of which was as a certified Building Inspector; OR Licensure as an Alabama General Contractor or Homebuilder with at least 3 years related experience, at least one of which was as a certified Building Inspector. Certification in Building Inspection and at least one other specialty (e.g., electrical inspector, HVAC inspector, etc.) by a nationally-recognized Building Code Organization (e.g., SBCCI, ICBO, etc.) required. Supplemental Information Specific Job Skills: Technical: * Extensive, expert knowledge of adopted building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, gas, swimming pool, life safety, fire prevention and other building and trade codes. * Ability to conduct thorough field inspections of new and remodeled residential and commercial structures and associated plumbing, gas, electrical and mechanical components. * Ability to review building and trade plans to identify code deficiencies. * Ability to review work of field inspectors and correct errors in a constructive manner. * Ability to drive a four-wheel vehicle off road. * Ability to train others and lead others with complex building problems. * Ability to continuously grow in technical knowledge through study and biennial participation in code related examinations for technical certification through nationally recognized accreditation agencies. Physical Capabilities: * Ability to be mobile in order to climb into and out of ditches, attics, building, crawlspaces, and other tight and difficult places for inspection. * Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with public. * Ability to work around specific chemicals required for building construction. * Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds. * Ability to stand/sit for extended periods of time. * Must be able to drive. * Ability to travel.
